RF Capacitance Level Switch uses the principle of capacitance to detect the level of liquids, powders, and slurries in containers. It consists of a sensing probe and an electronic control unit that is integral to the probe.
RF Capacitance Level Switch for Solids
The sensing probe is made up of three main elements: a sensing rod, a stainless steel coat guard shield, and an insulation material.
The insulation material can either be PTFE for powders and slurries or ceramic for heavy-duty applications. The sensing rod and the coat guard shield act as the two plates of a capacitor, and the level of material in the container affects the capacitance between them.
The combination of electronics and the coat guard technique provides immunity against material built up on the probe and container wall. This helps to prevent false readings and ensures accurate level detection even in applications where material buildup is common.

Features
The features of RF Capacitance Level Switches include:
- RF capacitance level switches can be used for measuring the level of liquids, powders, granules, and slurries, making them versatile for a variety of industries.
- These switches do not require direct contact with the material being measured, which can be beneficial for certain applications or materials.
- Because the sensing probe is designed to resist material buildup, the switch requires minimal maintenance and cleaning.
- Some models are designed to operate in hazardous environments and are certified to various safety standards.
- Some models offer optional accessories such as remote amplifiers and display units for added convenience and flexibility.
