The Vibrating Fork Point Level Switch works on the principle of piezo-driven vibrating fork technology. The sensing probe is made up of a rugged construction and contains a piezo crystal and sensing electronics. The sensing probe has a stainless steel housing with an enclosure at its top end that holds the control electronics, and its lower end holds a tuning fork, which vibrates at its mechanical resonance frequency of 400 Hz in the air.

When the fork comes in contact with the liquid, its vibrations get damped, and the change is sensed by the control electronics. This change in the signal is then processed and used to provide a PNP switching output. This output can be used to operate a relay or as input to PLC.

Since the vibration has a self-cleaning property, the maintenance required is minimal. This switch is unaffected by bubbles, foam, or vibration, making it reliable for level detection in a wide variety of liquids in tanks, containers, or pipelines.
